Just One Rainy Day on MAIN Street April 19, 2009

WOW! Wrapping up a FABULOUS four days at the MAIN St Fort Worth Arts Festival. Can’t say enough good things about the show — organizers, public response, EVERYTHING was top notch. Fort Worth is a  GREAT city populated with GREAT folks. Can’t wait to come back. We did have one RAINY, WINDY day though (Thursday I think it was) … here’s a webcam snapshot. Note: the weather didn’t stop people from coming out to see the show.

Llano Estacado April 15, 2009

On Tuesday, we drove from Albuquerque to Oklahoma City, which took us past the famed Llano Estacado. The big skies were fabulous. This was my favorite “car pic.”

Do you have a gallery or studio we can visit? March 21, 2009

I get this question a lot from patrons who see my jewelry at shows. The short answer is; no, I don’t. The long answer is a two-part one; I LOVE doing art shows, which keeps me on the road A LOT — hence no way to keep a gallery open throughout the year, plus our little 1,200 square foot home is so cram packed with my jewelry and Ken’s painting paraphanelia that there is not even a square inch that a visitor could find to stand in.

That’s one reason I love doing the EXPO. For 10 weeks of the year, I have a permanent place to show my work that is also a working studio, so it’s like having a gallery but without the 12 month a year commitment.

Maybe one of these days, the “road show” thing will become tiring and I’ll decide opening a gallery would be the way to go, or we’ll get more square footage in our home, with room for a studio that’s open to the public. But for now, it’s just “catch me when you can.”

After a GRUELING (BUT FUN) series of trips back and forth between Arizona and Utah/Colorado, we’re HOME for a while. And that’s a GOOD thing. I’m looking forward to working on some new pieces. I finished this gorgeous sterling silver mesh ring today.

I like to take a photo of my cube set up before I head out the door (see above). Having a notoriously short memory, it helps me remember “what goes where” in the display…

 What a gorgeous interior!

My “year round shelf” is shelf 2!

We had a massive rain on Saturday around lunch time. I don’t have a good image unfortunately, but the view from the picture window was spectacular.

Pounce Announce June 10, 2008

POUNCE (pouns): to seize something swiftly or eagerly. She pounced on the opportunity to buy the gorgeous piece of jewelry at a next to nothing price.

So beginning NEXT WEEK, I will be adding a new PAGE on my web site, www.artemis-weaves.com, called POUNCE. What it is, is a place where I can highlight one SPECIAL piece, with the idea that if someone sees it and LIKES IT, they should POUNCE on it. Cause it won’t be around forever. What will make the piece SPECIAL? Well, it could be something ONE OF A KIND. It could outside the BOUNDARIES of what I normally CREATE. It could include VINTAGE components. Or, it could be priced to die for. Can’t wait to see what I come up with.

ARTISTS interviewing ARTISTS, and other INTERESTING people May 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Diana @ 4:58 pm

Hi all. I want to let you know about a new category that I’m adding to my blog, called “ARTISTS interviewing ARTISTS, and other INTERESTING people.” The idea is to connect artists, gallery owners, patrons, and others interested in or involved in the arts by letting them have a peek into each other’s worlds. My first profile will be Joyce White. Joyce creates sculpted art jewelry and you’ll get to learn more about her and her work in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Repurposed Pearls – Part Deux May 26, 2008

About half way there...

My Repurposed Pearls project is about half way to completion, and I think it’s coming along beautifully! I’m using the Jen’s Pind weave structure for the chain, which is sterling silver. The pearls are surrounded on either side by sterling silver celtic knots. This necklace will be about 20 inches long, with a simple “s” clasp. I told my friend I will have enough pearls leftover to make a bracelet and earrings too.
