I’m EXCITED to be participating in the Sedona Arts Festival this weekend! The weather promises to be pleasant with maybe a chance of showers beginning Saturday afternoon. I will be bringing with me the new “DRAKON” cuff pictured below. In this version of my cuff, I teamed lovely DRAGONSCALE weave with a beautiful turquoise “double” safety clasp that I acquired from Pacific Silverworks some months ago. LOVE IT!
Drakon Cuff in Turquoise July 8, 2008
WOW, I love how this piece turned out. I wove it in sterling silver using the weave called Dragon Scale. I made the rings for the piece last winter while I was participating in the Arizona Fine Art Expo, but never got around to doing the actual WEAVING until late spring/early summer. The cuff is enhanced with a GORGEOUS turquoise and sterling silver clasp. It’s about 7-1/2″ in length. I’ll have this piece with me at the Edwards Fine Art & Sculpture Festival this weekend.
Diana Ferguson Trunk Show, Raku Gallery, Jerome, AZ – Jul 5 June 24, 2008
A brief post to note my TRUNK SHOW at Raku Gallery in Jerome, Arizona on SATURDAY, JULY 5 from 10am to 8:00pm. Located on Cleopatra Hill in Jerome, Raku is a gorgeous gallery that is well known for outstanding art and a fabulous view overlooking the Verde Valley and the red rocks of Sedona. I am more than pleased to have the opportunity to personally represent my work here during the Saturday of the July Art Walk. If you’re in the area, please stop by! I’d love to meet you and tell you more about my jewelry and my process.
My good “last two days”… June 22, 2008
My “works in progress”, June 18 2008.
For me, weekends and weekdays are not really DISTINGUISHABLE from each other, so I will just say that it’s been a very SATISFACTORY last two days! Here’s WHY.
1) A supply of wood I ordered came on Saturday. I’m planning to incorporate hand constructed wood components into my pieces in various ways and getting the wood in hand was of course the FIRST STEP. I’ve got CHERRY, OAK, ASH and MAPLE to work with, as shown in the pic.
2) I received my latest PMC order and am looking to do some bezels and more of my “Variation on a Bead” necklaces with this material.

3) I confirmed a trunk show with Raku Gallery in Jerome, Arizona for Saturday, July 5 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Very cool …and more on this event in a later post.
4) I have gotten well along into a new version of my ”Drakon” bracelet, as well as a new collar that will be about 2-1/2 wide and very drapey. I have some great ideas for embellishments on this piece, so stay tuned.
Tiny bit of Euro 4-in-1 collar
5) Our new (and second) LIGHT DOME canopy came, so we are now officially set to go from an equipment perspective for the July shows …whew. Still worrying about how to fit it all in the Odyssey. Which, by the way, is in the shop for a malfunctioning speedometer cluster.
6) My Gathering at the Great Divide acceptance came in the mail, which completes my show schedule for this summer. This show by the way is in Breckenridge, Colorado. We got rained on big time last year!
7) A business development that I’m very excited about but can’t discuss yet…
Last but not least, it was only 103 today and not 114, like yesterday …yay!
Not bad for two days, huh?
Repurposed Pearls – Finale! June 11, 2008
WOW, I finished and shipped off my REPURPOSED PEARLS project yesterday. I’m so HAPPY with how the project turned out. The JEN’S PIND WEAVE is perfect for this type of design, and I feel INSPIRED to create a more pieces in a similar vein. Which means, I get to go explore my bead STASH — I have some Swarovski Crystal Pearls in Light Green that would be lovely. I think this design would make STUNNING bridal / wedding jewelry.

Pounce Announce June 10, 2008
POUNCE (pouns): to seize something swiftly or eagerly. She pounced on the opportunity to buy the gorgeous piece of jewelry at a next to nothing price.
So beginning NEXT WEEK, I will be adding a new PAGE on my web site, www.artemis-weaves.com, called POUNCE. What it is, is a place where I can highlight one SPECIAL piece, with the idea that if someone sees it and LIKES IT, they should POUNCE on it. Cause it won’t be around forever. What will make the piece SPECIAL? Well, it could be something ONE OF A KIND. It could outside the BOUNDARIES of what I normally CREATE. It could include VINTAGE components. Or, it could be priced to die for. Can’t wait to see what I come up with.
Mango Lemon Topaz June 1, 2008
I’ve had this GORGEOUS “mango cut”, faceted LEMON TOPAZ from Migem in my stash for some time now. The picture simply doesn’t do it justice; it is actually a gorgeous pale yellow, without the brownish tones seen here.
Today, it called out to me to BECOME something. I’ve been playing around with weaving a sterling silver, double spiral neck wire for it, probably about 16″. I think the simplicity of this chain style will SHOW OFF the stone nicely. I’m dying to see how it TURNS OUT but for now …lots more WEAVING to do.
FACTOID: According to Gemstones of the World, the name topaz is “most probably derived from an island in the Red Sea, now Zabargad but formerly Topazos, the ancient source of peridot.”
